Under the federal No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges for any medical service or item before you schedule it. This federal protection applies to patients who are uninsured or who choose to pay out of pocket without using insurance. This page explains your rights under the No Surprises Act and how to request a Good Faith Estimate from Jersey City Imaging Center.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, healthcare providers must give patients who do not have insurance, or who are not using insurance, an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including any related services that may be needed during your visit.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency medical services. This includes diagnostic imaging tests like MRI, CT scan, ultrasound, X-ray, and DEXA bone density.
Make sure your healthcare provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least one business day before your medical service. You can also ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.
When you receive a Good Faith Estimate from Jersey City Imaging Center, it may include the following:
Your Good Faith Estimate is provided in writing and can be delivered by email, by mail, or as part of your booking confirmation, depending on your preference.
Jersey City Imaging Center provides Good Faith Estimates to all uninsured and self-pay patients on request. We deliver written estimates within one business day of your request.

When you contact us, please be ready to share the following information so we can prepare an accurate estimate:
We will return your written Good Faith Estimate within one business day, by your preferred contact method.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the charge through the federal Patient-Provider Dispute Resolution process.
You may contact the healthcare provider or facility listed to let them know the billed charges are higher than the Good Faith Estimate. You can ask them to update the bill to match the Good Faith Estimate, ask to negotiate the bill, or ask if there is financial assistance available.
You may also start a dispute resolution process with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). If you choose to use the dispute resolution process, you must start the dispute process within 120 calendar days (about 4 months) of the date on the original bill.
There is a $25 fee to use the dispute process. If the agency reviewing your dispute agrees with you, you will have to pay the price on this Good Faith Estimate. If the agency disagrees with you and agrees with the healthcare provider or facility, you will have to pay the higher amount.
